Through Christ, Gate of Hope Ministries International (GHMI) encourages, empowers, and educates vulnerable East Africans for a better future. We inspiring hope and transform lives in the Name of Christ. Since our inception, GHMI has served to create an environment where East African individuals, families and communities are equipped and empowered to live out a more spiritually fulfilled, socially connected, and economically stable life. We offer a welcoming and healing community of hope, break isolation, foster and strengthen a sense of belonging, for individuals and families to transform their communities and nations. We provide holistic, trauma-informed, culturally competent, linguistic specific and age-appropriate direct support to individuals and families geared towards removing barriers to self sufficiency. We are a registered 501(c)(3) organization, founded in 1995 with programs in the US and Rwanda. In the US, we support the integration and belonging of refugees and immigrants from Burundi, Rwanda, Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda, residing in Louisville, KY. In Rwanda, we support the development and empowerment of the poor, elderly, widows of the genocide, orphans, people with HIV/AIDS, vulnerable children and their families, living in the rural villages. We offer services and programming in member s native language among them Swahili, Kinyarwanda, French, Kirundi, or Kinyamulenge.
Memorial Family Medicine is a 10 resident per year, unopposed, full-spectrum training program located in South Bend, IN. Residents receive robust education in the core aspects within family medicine including strong experiences in inpatient medicine, inpatient pediatrics at Beacon Children s Hospital, high volume OB, and outpatient medicine while still maintaining flexibility and the ability to tailor their education with multiple curricular tracks. We also support three fellowships: OB, Sports Medicine, and Health Services Management, a unique 4 year integrated curriculum that incorporates a Masters of Public Affairs through Indiana University. In the past 5 years, 2 residents have been awarded the prestigious AAFP Award for Excellence in Graduate Medical Education. The combination of supportive faculty and amazing residents makes this program a place you want to train. Opportunities for international rotations are a cornerstone of our program, providing a unique educational and service experience for interested residents. Rotating and serving in the international community can have lasting impacts on the formation of residents and is often one of the most impactful experiences of their training. Since the inception of Memorial s international rotation experience, we have sent more than 40 residents to countries around the world to serve and learn in under-resourced settings.

Our current services include internal medicine, family medicine, family dentistry, pediatrics, women s health, integrated behavioral health, chronic care management, diabetes education, remote patient monitoring, transitional care management, Ryan White program for HIV care/disease management, physical therapy, lab services, prescription assistance, monthly mobile mammogram visits, and specialist referrals. We began in 2007 with 2 exam rooms, 2 providers, and 2 support staff. Today, we have 4 clinic locations with 44 exam rooms, a dental clinic with 8 chairs, 4 fully functioning labs, 11 physicians, 7 nurse practitioners, 3 physician assistants, 4 behavioral health specialists, and 5 dentists. In 2023, we provided 27,146 medical visits, 6,862 dental visits, and 1,765 behavioral health visits. We are a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with a sliding fee discount for patients without insurance (35% of patients in 2023). Many of our patients are covered by Medicaid/CHIP (29% in 2023) and Medicare (17% in 2023), and we also accept private insurance (19% in 2023).
