The year was 1981 and I was a short-term missionary in the Baptist Hospital In Ferkessedougou Cote d’Ivoire. At the end of the day, the head nurse, Barbara, came to me with a request. She said: “Jean, if you could fix this pump, that would be great”.  I responded, “No problem I will take a look at it in the morning!”  At this she responded calmly: “as you wish, but without the pump, the patient will be dead by morning”.

Needless to say, I go to work right away and got the equipment up and running.  ðŸ˜Š
