Scarlet Hope exists to share the hope and love of Jesus with women impacted by the adult entertainment industry.
Scarlet Hope began in 2007 under the vision of Rachelle Starr, after the Lord burdened her heart for the women working in a XXX Theater she passed every day on her way to work. As she began researching the industry, she discovered that Louisville, KY was ranked as having the fifth-largest adult entertainment industry per capita in the United States. After months of prayer, she, with a few friends, began reaching women in the adult entertainment industry by serving meals to them in strip clubs. What began as 3 friends praying in a car, has turned into a national ministry reaching women in 5 cities across America.
To this day, Scarlet Hope volunteers serve over 160 women employed in clubs and massage parlors in Louisville every Thursday. In addition to our Outreach efforts, we seek to serve these women outside of the clubs as well through our Hope for Her program, and 14 month Career Development Program.
Hope for Her is designed to offer a safe, non-judgmental place to be a part of a community of women with shared experiences. We offer counseling, bible study, case management, mentoring, and classes that equip her to grow deeper in Christ and begin a life outside of the industry.
Our Career Development Program offers women the opportunity to experience the life-changing love and grace of Jesus, increase their emotional, physical, educational, spiritual, and financial stability, and gain the life and job skills training necessary to function and retain meaningful employment. The program is 30 hours/week for 14 months and each woman in the program receives an hourly wage for her time spent working in the classroom and in job training. This model provides the time and space necessary to heal, stabilize, and make a plan for their lives while surrounded by a gospel-centered community.
