Running The Race is a newly formed non-profit organization focused on sports medicine missions in Kenya. We are currently recruiting Kingdom-minded sports medicine physicians, fellows, residents, physical therapists, and certified athletic trainers to help staff monthly clinics in Iten, Kenya. Our mission: Transform hearts for Jesus Christ through: Christian evangelism and discipleship of athletes, coaches, and Sports Medicine clinicians. Education of disadvantaged coaches and athletes in the care of basic sports injuries and the management of medical emergencies. Development of comprehensive Sports Medicine clinical services in disadvantaged regions by developing comprehensive clinical education pathways for local medical providers and medical providers-in-training. The Whiteriver USPHS Indian Hospital is a Joint Commission accredited 40 bed acute care hospital which includes all-ages inpatient care, Emergency Services, OB, and Ambulatory Surgery. The hospital is located on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation about three miles north of the town of Whiteriver, Arizona, and serves approximately 18,000 tribal members and other Native American communities around the area. Residents to the southwest are served through the Cibecue Health Center, located fifty miles from Whiteriver. It is staffed by approximately 25 primary care physicians, including Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, and Med-Peds physicians, as well as 9 Nurse Practitioners, 4 Physician Assistants, 2 podiatrists, 1 orthopedist, 1 general surgeon, 1 optometrist, 5 dentists and 79 nursing staff members. We see approximately 177,000 outpatient visits, 40,000 ER visits and have 1700 admissions annually. Whiteriver Hospital has also been designated as Baby Friendly. We have an active teaching program which includes medical students and residents, pharmacy students and residents, as well as nurse practitioner, physician assistant, optometry, dental, laboratory, and physical therapy students. Whiteriver is located 20 to 30 miles from the resort town of Pinetop where many employees live. Climbing to more than 11,000 feet in the mountains, this region offers a temperate four-season climate that is pleasant year-round. There is easy access to hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, skiing, hunting and fishing, or camping in the surrounding national forest. This is a wonderful population that face many challenges and are in need of loving staff. Whether you are a provider, nurse (especially OB, OR, or clinic nurses!), therapist, or any other allied health profession, your interest in caring for our patients would be most welcome. This is a great place to serve domestically while paying off loans or if you either want or need to work with underserved populations here in the US. You could not ask for a more beautiful place to live or better people to work with. There are many churches in the area where you can plug in and serve. For over 22 years, WestCMR has been a game changer in the healthcare industry by altering how the industry thinks about managing excess surgical supplies. Medical mission trips with IMR provide short-term volunteer opportunities abroad for medical professionals and dental professionals , students , and non-medical volunteers with any level of experience. Our medical and dental clinics provide free healthcare and health education in more than 57 countries in areas where care is limited or difficult to obtain. We make all arrangements for our volunteers, including transportation, lodging/meals, government permits, and clinic logistics. IMR operates with just 1.5% administrative and fundraising costs so more than 98 cents of every dollar donated is invested directly into our programs. The non-profit Family Health Foundation or Fundación Hogar del Ecuador began in 1988 and is based in Cuenca, the third largest city in Ecuador. Our board members are leaders in the Arco Christian Church. In the beginning, our goal was to serve the under served, ministering holistically to each person, as well as their families. At the time we wanted to stay open to wherever God would lead. Almost 30 years later we have settled into 5 main areas. Centro Medico : We provide high quality health care for underprivileged people in our full service clinic. There are 16 medical specialties and we see 30,000 patients each year in a modern, centrally located, fully equipped facility in the city of Cuenca. We also provide medical coverage for the 2,200 Compassion International children who are part of the central-south district of the country, and work with the government social security system, performing surgeries for their over-burdened institution. Under the umbrella of our clinic, we host between 5-9 International Medical/Dental teams from the US and Canada each year. 4 of these teams come from GHO, and the rest from individual churches and groups. We use the medical teams as part of our church planting strategy, working in conjunction with the local government, and Compassion International. In 2017 we saw 11,500 patients touched by the love of Jesus. Through La Esperanza Children s Ministries we serve in 3 remote communities in the northwest corner of Ecuador. Our goals include helping the citizens (adults and children) acquire their national ID cards so they can access government services and attend public schools, and improve the general well-being of these marginalized people, giving the children a vision for what God can do in their lives. We have also begun ministering to children of the recyclers in Cuenca- people who live around the refuse piles scavenging for items they can sell to recycling companies. We hope to impact their lives, ministering to their physical, mental and spiritual needs, while integrating them into the Body of Christ. Casas de Dios is a ministry that provides a house for people who own a piece of land but do not have the resources for building their home. We have developed a sustainable model that is bringing the families, churches, communities, and international organizations together. Seeing families make connections, develop economic and social stability, and grow spiritually has been a tremendous blessing. To date we have built 22 homes in 5 different communities including homes for the earthquake victims in Esmeraldas and Manta, Ecuador. Education and Communication includes a.) our school (K-12) which provides high quality, low cost, Christian education based on Biblical principles and values. We have been recognized by the Ecuadorian government as leaders in special needs education and inclusion (integrating the special needs children into the regular classrooms). b.) We have the only Christian FM radio station (Radio Familia 96.9) in the southern part of the country, offering programs focused on affirming family values and Biblical principles in a non-religious format. c.) Our capable staff and volunteers have become well known in several cities in Ecuador as experienced and talented professionals, skilled in presenting high quality seminars and classes. We cover areas including leadership development, marriage and parenting seminars, ethics and values classes, and more. We regularly give presentations to government workers, businesses, police and military personnel, in secular and parochial schools, and churches. d.) MUYU, our internship program focuses on cultural and ministerial exchange. We help each student develop and apply the gifts God has given them, facilitating their spiritual, emotional and professional growth and development. The program can be tailored to individual and group needs, with flexible dates and schedules, and a wide variety of language, cultural, and ministerial opportunities. Students experience the local culture directly, both by living with Ecuadorian families, and through involvement in the local church and community. IHDN is a volunteer medical missions organization based in Springfield, Illinois. Our vision is to use the earthly healthcare ministry of Christ as a model to reach out to the poor through provision of medical services, education, training, community development and sharing the gospel of Christ. We own and operate the IHDN Mission Hospital, an 80-bed hospital at Weta-Adzadokpo, in the Volta Region of Ghana. This hospital provides medical care to over 35,000 patients each year. We sponsor 2 medical mission trips to Ghana to assist with the work of the hospital and also teach and promote community development. The hospital is an elective destination for final year medical students interested in learning about Tropical Medicine and International Health.
